New Grant for National Operational Continuity Research Awarded

Moran Bodas

I am thrilled to announce that I have been awarded a prestigious grant by the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. This grant will fund an important new project focused on business continuity on a national level—a critical area for ensuring the resilience of the State of Israel during times of crisis.

The project will span 12 months and aims to explore and compare the operational continuity models employed by governments around the world, with a particular focus on contrasting these models with Israel's current approach. The ultimate goal is to develop an optimized framework that enhances Israel's ability to maintain essential governmental functions and services during emergencies and disasters.

I am excited to be collaborating on this project with Elad Atiya, an alumnus of the Master’s Program in Emergency & Disaster Management at Tel Aviv University. Elad is a senior expert in business and operational continuity and will serve as the senior research associate for this project. His extensive experience in this field will be invaluable as we analyze and refine operational continuity strategies for Israel.

The research will be structured in multiple phases:

- In-depth literature review to understand global best practices and models.

- Semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, including government officials, emergency management experts, and business continuity professionals.

- Application of both qualitative and quantitative analysis tools to compare and contrast various models from different countries.

- The project will conclude with a comprehensive optimization recommendation, providing actionable insights to strengthen Israel’s operational continuity strategies.

This work represents a significant step toward improving Israel’s preparedness and resilience in the face of national emergencies. I look forward to working alongside Elad and our expert collaborators to contribute to a more robust and adaptive framework for crisis management. Stay tuned for updates as the project progresses!
